Biography

Sherif Mahmoud focuses his practice on patent prosecution. Sherif’s experience includes drafting and prosecuting hundreds of U.S. and foreign patents. The patents involve electrical and software technologies, including online marketplace systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning and neural network designs, 5G/5G+ standard essential patents, processors (hardware, firmware, chiplets), semiconductors (design & fabrication), embedded systems, engineering hardware, integrated circuit designs, autonomous vehicles, mobile software applications, and cloud computing.

Sherif also has experience prosecuting Post Grant Proceedings, including Inter Partes Review and Ex Parte Reexamination, conducting video interviews, and preparing detailed Office Action responses. In addition, he has prepared due diligence reports, infringement analysis opinions, claim charts, patent landscape analysis, and freedom to operate analysis in US and foreign markets.

Prior to his patent practice, Sherif spent almost a decade in the field of electrical engineering. He developed, maintained, and documented hardware and software for an unmanned aerial vehicle and for semiconductor test equipment.

Sherif received his J.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology – Kent College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

He is also fluent in English and Arabic.
